We recommend arriving in Australia at least a few days before the wedding to adjust to the time difference and enjoy everything Sydney has to offer; at a minimum, we suggest arriving in Sydney by Friday, June 11, to ensure you're well rested and in the continent.

We recommend planning your trip for at least one week to make the most of your time in Australia; our own visits have ranged from 10 to 14 days, and if you are able to stay longer, you will have no trouble filling your itinerary by exploring other incredible Australian cities or taking a trip to New Zealand.

You do not need to rent a car while staying in Sydney—it's a very walkable city with an excellent public transportation system, including trains, buses, and ferries, and rideshare services like Uber are readily available and often a convenient, cost-effective option for getting around.

Sydney in June is a beautiful time to visit, with mild winter weather, comfortable daytime temperatures, and cooler evenings. Guests can expect temperatures generally ranging from the mid-50s to upper 60s Fahrenheit, with a mix of sunny days and the occasional chance of rain. We recommend packing layers, including sweaters, a light jacket or coat, and comfortable walking clothes, as Sydney is a city best explored on foot. Consider bringing something warm for evenings spent enjoying the harbor views.

A few helpful travel tips before your trip to Australia: be sure to pack a power adapter, as Australia uses a different plug type than the United States. You do not need to worry about carrying much cash—Australia is extremely credit card friendly, and contactless payments are widely accepted almost everywhere. Remember that Australia is in a different time zone and season than the U.S., so give yourself some time to adjust and enjoy the adventure!

One important note for travelers is that Australia has very strict biosecurity and agriculture laws designed to protect its unique environment and wildlife. Food, plant materials, and certain animal products cannot be brought into the country unless properly declared and approved. Any snacks or food items you bring for the flight should be eaten before landing or left on the plane, as undeclared items can result in delays or fines.

Australia offers a very easy tax refund for any shopping that you do in Australia ($300 min purchase at the business). A 10% tax refund can be claimed at the airport on your way home. Just make sure to submit the info ahead of time on the TRS app, it only takes a few minutes.
